Booger's Monday NASCAR Fantasy Update: DOVER (Spring Race) RECAP/ ALL-STAR EDITION

Dover Recap:

Well, the Dick Trickle Fantasy Team finished third this week but caught up in points as 1st and last are separated by only 257 points. Remember this Yahoo league isn't a sprint, its a long distance, don't overuse your guys especially the ones that will be making more noise towards the end of the year. Jimmie Johnson stayed true to the statistics and led 4 laps, that's 9 consecutive Spring races at Dover that #48 has led a lap. You have to go all the way back to 2007, the last spring Dover race the 6-time champ didn't lead a lap. Those would be the only laps he led all race as a shifting malfunction on a restart with 46 laps to go caused a huge 18 car wreck which brought out the Red Flag for the first time this season. That wreck took out Johnson as well as Martin Truex Jr. and early race hopeful Kevin Harvick, who led a race high 117 laps and limped to a 15th place finish. That would setup the best finish of 2016. Matt Kenseth, Kyle Larson and rookie Chase Elliot battled it out. Kenseth the calm, cool, collected Veteran, prevailed over the two young guns looking for their first ever win in Sprint Cup. Larson was the faster of the three but couldn't figure out a way to get by Kenseth, selecting not to wreck Kenseth, Larson gained a lot of respect from the 44 year old Kenseth. Chase Elliot impressed again, battling Larson late for 2nd but wound up 3rd.

Dover Shiny Star Award: Kyle Larson

Last week I said, "I figure take a chance on him because you will look either really smart or really foolish. I think Kyle gets his season back on track with a good run here!" Looks like I get to pat myself on the back for this one. Kyle finished 2nd and really was the class of the field in the 2nd part of that race. The wins are coming for the 23 year old from Cali. Now lets hope he builds off this and keeps it up.

Dover SUPRISE! Award: N/A

I'd give it to Ryan Blaney, but nothing surprises me anymore with this kid and other Rook Chase Elliot. These kids can flat out drive their racecars. I would put money on that these two find Victory Lane before the season ends.

Dover Wreck of the Day: 18 pileup on the frontstretch

It all started with Jimmie Johnson's shifter malfunction, Truex plowed into the back of the #48 and finally spun Jimmie out in front of the 2by2 field on the restart. It took out some very good cars, and led to the most on the edge of your seat finish of 2016!

This week the NASCAR circuit stays home in Charlotte, NC. The Camping World Truck Series are the only series running for points this weekend. The NC Education Lottery 200, Friday, May 20th @ 8:30pm EST. Before the truck race the drivers not qualified for the Sprint ALL-STAR race will battle it out in the Sprint Showdown. 3 drivers and Fan Voted in driver will advance to the All-Star Race from the Showdown. And the All-Star Finale on Saturday Night will decide which driver takes home 1 Million Dollars. All-Star weekend is always a fun weekend for the fans, and is the Half-way mark of the 2016 season. Here our my picks for this weekend events:

Sprint Showdown
(In no particular order)

1.) Ryan Blaney
2.) Chase Elliot
3.) Kyle Larson

Fan Vote: Matt DiBenedetto

Sprint All-Star Winner-

Martin Truex Jr.

There we have it, another week in the books. Thank You to everyone that takes the time out of their day to read this. I enjoy this and look forward to this every Monday. One step closer to my dream!

GOD SPEED

BOOGER
