Coca-Cola 600 Recap:

The Dick Trickle Fantasy team brought home 3rd place last night. Made a change to my lineup prior to the start that didn't work out well as Kasey Kahne ended up having a dreaded start and never was able to dig out of the hole. The race was dominated by Martin Truex Jr. and I wasn't surprised. By the far the fastest car this year was on the brink of busting through to get his first win. Without those pit road blunders and that close finish in the Daytona 500 he very well could have 3 or 4 wins this season. Kyle Larson has had a couple good weeks leading up to last nights race but was a non factor but ended up getting a decent 13th place finish. Joey Logano led 1 lap and finished 9th and the rookie Chase Elliot shrugged off an early pit road penalty to bring it home in 8th. But, the story of night was all Truex, leading 392 of 400 laps which is a Coke 600 record. He also broke the record of most miles led in one race by leading 588 miles of the 600. Thing is he could dominate again this weekend as the Sprint Cup series heads to Pocono the tricky triangle. So lets find out who my picks are this weekend as we head into the summer months.

Coca-Cola 600 Shiny Star Award- Chase Elliot

Elliot was my highest finisher last night, despite an early pit road penalty he shrugged it off. Everyone is wondering when Kyle Larson will get his first win, I'm wondering which of 2 rookies get their first win first. Elliot is the leading candidate.

Coca-Cola SURPRISE!! Award- Kyle Larson

For how well he ran All-Star weekend and coming of a 2nd place finish in the Xfinity race. Kyle Larson was really a non-factor in last nights Coca- Cola 600 but finished 13th.

Group A-

Denny Hamlin

Denny has more wins at Pocono then any other active drivers, four. His last of his four total wins came back in 2010 but since then in his last four summer races here he has a 10th, 4th, 8th and 5th place finishes. He qualifies well here only starting outside the top 15 once in all of his starts here. Look for him to run well and get a good finish.

Brad Keselowski

Keselowski has 1 win here, which came back in 2011. He finished 2nd in the fall race here last season. Keselowski is coming into this weekends race as one of the hottest drivers in the past month. In the month of May he scored an average finish of 6th had 4 top 10s 2 top 5s. He finished 5th in the Coke 600 and look for him to continue he consistency this week at Pocono.

WE2W4- Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, and Joey Logano

Group B-

Kyle Larson

Though he was really a non factor in last nights Coke 600, which was a surprise to me because of how well he ran last week in the All-Star race and finished 2nd in the Xfinity race I'm sticking with the kid of Cali. In only 4 races at Pocono, Larson has an Avg. Finish of 9.00, 1 top5, and 2 top10s. His worst finish is 12th and finished 8th here last year. Look for Larson to keep that trend heading up.

Tony Stewart

Its been awhile since his last win at Pocono, 2009. But Smoke ran well here last fall finishing 9th. His last 4 summer races here, he has a 21st, 13th, 4th, and 3rd place finish. He may not make the chase this year but you know he is going to giver hell.

Martin Truex Jr.

Coming off his dominating performance at Charlotte it would be stupid not to pick this guy this week. He is also the defending race winner where he led 97 laps last June. He is going to be the one to beat and is my pick to win this week.

Ryan Newman

He has one win coming back in 2003 when he was with Penske Racing. Last summer he finished 39th, but was running well when he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Allmendinger and Newman were running for 7th place when AJ got loose underneath Newman sending the 31 car into the wall. Other then that blemish he has a 7th, 5th and 12th place finish here at this race.

WE2W4- Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer and Greg Biffle

Group C-

Landon Cassill and Brian Scott

Like I said last week I'm keeping Blaney and Elliot in my hip pocket while other guys might use them up right away. I may not win a lot of weeks in these summer months but it will be totally worth having those 2 rookies during the playoff months. Cassill and Scott are among the top 4 in that group behind the 2 rookies. But by all means if you want to go with Blaney and Elliot I don't blame you.

WE2W4- Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliot

Well there we have it. Another week in the books and putting some strategy into my game. I hope everyone had a good and safe memorial day weekend. Also congratulations to Alexander Rossi as the American rookie won the Indianapolis 500 yesterday afternoon. Thank you to all those who read this every week and for all the support. Please feel free to leave comments so I can make this blog the best it can be!

Booger's Monday NASCAR Fantasy Update: The Coca-Cola 600 (Charlotte Spring Race) Edition

Coca-Cola 600
Charlotte Motor Speedway
Concord, North Carolina | May 29, 2016
6:00 PM EST | LIVE ON FOX

I'm not even going to recap the All-Star race, I don't think any fan or even NASCAR knew what was going on. Tony Stewart said it best, "Its the most screwed up All-Star race I have ever been apart of, I'm glad this is last one. Yeah I'm alright except I'm just madder then hell, cause I don't understand how and the hell they have officiated this whole thing from start to finish." Classic Tony, I like to see that fire. Now in NASCAR's offense, I think there were things that happened that they weren't prepared for. For instance the mandatory Green Flag pit stop that Matt Kenseth didn't do, which trapped a lot of the cars that DID pit a lap down after NASCAR penalized Matt 1 lap for not meeting the rules. I do know one thing, the Sprint Showdown sure was exciting, Trevor Bayne, Greg Biffle and Kyle Larson all raced their way into the big show while Chase Elliot and Danica Patrick got voted in by the fans. NOW, on to the last leg of the 10 Days of Thunder Tour in Charlotte, Coke 600 weekend. This race is all about survival, the longest race of the year for drivers, teams and their cars. You need to bring one badass piece to this deal. Horse racing has its Triple Crown, this race in the 2nd leg of the Triple Crown of NASCAR. Think Denny Hamlin can get his 2nd big NASCAR win of the season? or will Joey Logano make it 2for2 in the #22? We shall find out in my picks for the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day Weekend!

Group A-

Joey Logano

Can Joey become the 7th driver in the history of NASCAR to sweep both the All-Star and 600 weekend? Can Team Penske sweep the day with a victory earlier in the Indianapolis 500? The way that 22 car looked in the final 13 laps I would bet on it. Logano hasn't finished worse then 23rd in his 7 attempts at the 600. He averages a 9.57 average finish, with 1 win coming last fall where he led 227 laps and cruised to victory. He's my pick to become the 7th All-Star and Coca-Cola 600 winner (in the same season)!

Denny Hamlin

The Triple Crown in NASCAR consists of these 3 big races. First, the Daytona 500 (Super Bowl of NASCAR), the Coca-Cola 600 (Endurance Race), and the Southern 500 (The Grand daddy of them all.) Can Denny Hamlin win this weekend to make it one step closer to the Triple Crown of NASCAR? Hamlin finished 8th in last years 600 and led 53 laps. He also ran well in the fall race in 2015 and finished 4th. He has the 3rd best average finish at Charlotte amongst active drivers.

WE2W4- Jimmie Johnson, Brad Keselowski, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch

Group B-

Carl Edwards

Defending Coke 600 winner, and finished 6th there in the Fall. FUN FACT: Edwards was a substitute teacher before becoming a NASCAR driver. He has a 10.55 Avg. Finish in 22 races, 1 win, 7 Top5s and 15 top10s at Charlotte. In his last 4 starts in the 600, he has posted a 1st, 4th, 11th, and 9th place finish. Look for him to continue is consistency this Sunday night.

Kasey Kahne

Kahne is on that list that Joey Logano is looking to join of All-Star and 600 winners in the same season. Kahne accomplished that in the 2008 season, he has won the 600 twice in his career (2008, and 2012). His season has finally started to improve from the horrendous start. Look for Kasey to continue his good streak here at Charlotte where he holds 4 total wins, a 12.79 AVG Finish and has led more then 1,100 laps.

Jamie McMurray

McMurray first career win in the Sprint Cup Series (The Winston Cup then) came in the fall race of 2002, when he was subbing in for an injured Sterling Marlin. He again won the fall race back in that magical season of 2010 where he won the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400. In his last four Coke 600s his best finish was a 5th in 2014. He hasn't had much success in the 600, but I'm having one of those feelings he's going to get a good finish this weekend.

Kyle Larson

Like I say with STICK WITH THE BIFF. I'm sticking with Kyle Larson this weekend, he ran well in the Sprint Showdown on Saturday and was up there battling for the All-Star win in the final segment. This kids day is coming and why not be on the receiving end of that day. Look for Kyle and the Target Chevy to build off the last couple weeks of success this weekend.

WE2W4- Austin Dillon, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, and Greg Biffle

Group C-

Chase Elliot

So this week I'm going to do something different. I have 6 starts remaining with Elliot, and 5 remaining with Blaney. I'm picking Elliot this weekend to even my starts up with Blaney and keep those two rookies in my back pocket for the end of the season. I like Elliot a little better because he was up front the whole Sprint Showdown and I believe would've challenged for the win in the All-Star race if it wasn't for the repairs they had to make after the contact with Larson in the Showdown.

Brian Scott

So this is by far the biggest risk I'm taking, I probably won't start Scott this weekend. But, in order to keep Blaney and Elliot in my hip pocket I need to go to guys like Scott and Cassill. Scott ran well here in the Xfinity Series, where he average a 15th place finish in his 12 races. He hasn't ran a 600 since 2014 and the fords looked really good last weekend. Maybe this isn't that big of a risk.

BOOGERS BONUS PICK:

INDIANAPOLIS 500 - Juan Pablo Montoya

There we have it, another week in the books. I would like to end this weeks blog by Thanking all of those brave men and woman who have or are serving in the military, also to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for the greatest country in this world. Booger's Monday NASCAR Fantasy Update: DOVER (Spring Race) RECAP/ ALL-STAR EDITION

Dover Recap:

Well, the Dick Trickle Fantasy Team finished third this week but caught up in points as 1st and last are separated by only 257 points. Remember this Yahoo league isn't a sprint, its a long distance, don't overuse your guys especially the ones that will be making more noise towards the end of the year. Jimmie Johnson stayed true to the statistics and led 4 laps, that's 9 consecutive Spring races at Dover that #48 has led a lap. You have to go all the way back to 2007, the last spring Dover race the 6-time champ didn't lead a lap. Those would be the only laps he led all race as a shifting malfunction on a restart with 46 laps to go caused a huge 18 car wreck which brought out the Red Flag for the first time this season. That wreck took out Johnson as well as Martin Truex Jr. and early race hopeful Kevin Harvick, who led a race high 117 laps and limped to a 15th place finish. That would setup the best finish of 2016. Matt Kenseth, Kyle Larson and rookie Chase Elliot battled it out. Kenseth the calm, cool, collected Veteran, prevailed over the two young guns looking for their first ever win in Sprint Cup. Larson was the faster of the three but couldn't figure out a way to get by Kenseth, selecting not to wreck Kenseth, Larson gained a lot of respect from the 44 year old Kenseth. Chase Elliot impressed again, battling Larson late for 2nd but wound up 3rd.

Dover Shiny Star Award: Kyle Larson

Last week I said, "I figure take a chance on him because you will look either really smart or really foolish. I think Kyle gets his season back on track with a good run here!" Looks like I get to pat myself on the back for this one. Kyle finished 2nd and really was the class of the field in the 2nd part of that race. The wins are coming for the 23 year old from Cali. Now lets hope he builds off this and keeps it up.

Dover SUPRISE! Award: N/A

I'd give it to Ryan Blaney, but nothing surprises me anymore with this kid and other Rook Chase Elliot. These kids can flat out drive their racecars. I would put money on that these two find Victory Lane before the season ends.

Dover Wreck of the Day: 18 pileup on the frontstretch

It all started with Jimmie Johnson's shifter malfunction, Truex plowed into the back of the #48 and finally spun Jimmie out in front of the 2by2 field on the restart. It took out some very good cars, and led to the most on the edge of your seat finish of 2016!

This week the NASCAR circuit stays home in Charlotte, NC. The Camping World Truck Series are the only series running for points this weekend. The NC Education Lottery 200, Friday, May 20th @ 8:30pm EST. Before the truck race the drivers not qualified for the Sprint ALL-STAR race will battle it out in the Sprint Showdown. 3 drivers and Fan Voted in driver will advance to the All-Star Race from the Showdown. And the All-Star Finale on Saturday Night will decide which driver takes home 1 Million Dollars. All-Star weekend is always a fun weekend for the fans, and is the Half-way mark of the 2016 season. Here our my picks for this weekend events:

Sprint Showdown
(In no particular order)

1.) Ryan Blaney
2.) Chase Elliot
3.) Kyle Larson

Fan Vote: Matt DiBenedetto

Sprint All-Star Winner-

Martin Truex Jr.

There we have it, another week in the books. Thank You to everyone that takes the time out of their day to read this. I enjoy this and look forward to this every Monday. One step closer to my dream!

Booger's Monday NASCAR Fantasy Update: Dover (spring race) Edition

AAA 400 Drive for Autism
Dover International Speedway
Dover, Delaware
Sunday, May 15, 2016
LIVE on FS1 | 1 PM EST

KANSAS RECAP-

First I would like to start out with wishing and hoping that all the Mother's out there had an awesome Mother's Day. I know the drivers really raved about this being their favorite weekend not only because of Mother's Day but being able to have a Sunday off to relax and hang out with family and friends. What a weekend it was in the Sunflower state. The Camping World Truck Series race was again the highlight of the weekend with a last lap crash sending both leaders into the wall and 18 year old (graduates high school in 3 weeks) William Byron steered cleared and went on to win the race. In the cup race, Martin Truex Jr. dominated leading 172 laps for only something to go wrong in the pits generally costing him another shot at Victory. As for the Dick Trickle Fantasy team, its Victory Monday! I had drivers finish 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th on my way to victory.

Kansas Shiny Star Award- Matt Kenseth
The driver from Wisconsin settled his score with Joey Logano as the two talked earlier in the week, both agreeing, that away from the track they wouldn't be inviting each other to any parties but on the track they would race each other the same way as they race other drivers, clean. Kenseth gets that monkey off his back and scored his first Top 5 of the year. Way to go Cheese head.

Kansas SURPRISE! Award- Ryan Blaney
The dude is so laid back it will kill you to watch his interviews post race. The kid gets out of his car after running 400 miles and has the quiet AH SHUCKS look, and with a low voice he grins a little and thanks his sponsors. He is one helluva talent, 1 night after his Dad, Dave Blaney's, horrible wreck in a Sprint Car Event at Eldora Speedway the kid turns around and records his first Top 5 of 2016! This rookie class has got to be one of the best in recent memory!

Kansas Wreck of the Night Award- Denny Hamlin
Denny Hamlin going for the win late, splits the double team of Brad Keselowski and Kyle Larson and says "I'm going to be the rock between two hard places!" and ultimately gets loose and at the same time BK gets loose. BK saves it to the bottom of the track, and Denny slides up into Larson and the Joey Logano Train heading for Charlotte plows into the FedEx Freight like a heavy wet pile of snow in March! Both drivers were ok, Keselowski rebounded to finish 10th and Kyle Larson's dreaded season continues!
In the smoke there somewhere is Joey Logano
Oh... There's his hood!

Now on to my picks for this weekends AAA 400 Drive for Autism from Dover, Delaware.

Group A:

JIMMIE JOHNSON

It's going to be a common theme in 2 weeks at Charlotte. But Jimmie Johnson dominates Dover, and he dominates it well. In 28 races at Dover, JJ has 10 wins, 15 Top5s, 20 Top10s and after Sunday he will have led 3,000 laps. I looked it up, in all the races he has ran here he has NOT led a lap in ONLY 7 races here SEVEN!! In the spring race alone, he has only NOT led a single lap in only 2 races. Its pretty safe to say that him and Crew Chief Chad Knaus have this place figured out. He is also the defending race winner and I believe he will find his way to victory lane this Sunday! He is a must start for everyone this week!!

MATT KENSETH

I know same drivers as last week, but when the one driver dominates and the other runs well (and also needs a win in 2016) I'm going to stick with what is working. Kenseth, has 2 wins here the last coming in the Spring race 2011 when he was driving for Roush Fenway Racing. Since joining JGR, his worst finishes of 39th and 40th were because of engine and suspension problems. Besides that he has two 7th places finishes a 3rd and a 5th. Look for Mr. Cheesehead to get a victory here this weekend to keep JGR RED HOT!

WE2W4- Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick

Group B:

KYLE LARSON

Now he isn't having the best season so far, but every driver needs that one good race to get that confidence back up and why not you benefit from it. Larson has only 4 starts here in his career but has made the best of them. His lowest finish coming in his first race is 11th, he finished 3rd here last spring. I figure take a chance on him because you will look either really smart or really foolish. I think Kyle gets his season back on track with a good run here!

TONY STEWART

He needs to be in the top 30 in points and a win to make the chase in his final year. Last week proves that he hasn't lost the drive and he is here to make this damn chase. Coming to a track where he runs very well at, will propel him closer to that goal. In 33 races, Stewart has 3 wins (last coming in 2013), 11 Top5s, 17 Top10s. I think SMOKE is about Rise even higher after this week in Dover, and I don't mean that in a negative way!!

MARTIN TRUEX JR.

Man, what does this guy need to do to get into victory lane this year? Dominated both Texas and last weekend at Kansas just to see it slip away at the end. He has 1 win here coming back in 2007, and its his home track. In his last 4 starts, Truex has two 6th place finishes, a 7th and an 11th place finish. This team is on the verge of winning a race, as he is been one of the fastest cars as of late! Look for Mr. Truex to drive into victory lane for the 2nd time in his career at Dover this weekend.

ARIC ALMIROLA

Aric is not having the best of season's, and this pick is solely on how he has run here the last two visits to Dover. In his 8 starts here he has a 14.38 AVG Finish, he recorded two 5th place finishes in the 2 races here in 2015. I'm not saying he is Richard Petty but the #43 car has been to victory lane a total of 10 times at Dover. I'm not even thinking he gets close to winning this weekend but could get his first Top5 of 2015.

WE2W4- Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray

GROUP C:

CHASE ELLIOT AND RYAN BLANEY

Very sweet, short and simple! These two give you the best chance to win every week. Sooner or later you will have to find another driver that's not running as well but so will everyone else in your league as I'm down to 6 starts with both of these drivers! SO with that being said, my theory worked out last week... well no, no it didn't. Both of these rooks finished in the top 10 with Blaney finishing 5th and Elliot finishing the highest of all Hendrick Motorsports (better then JJ, JR and Kasey Kahne) just putting that out there JR NATION.

Well, another week of my picks. Another DUBBYA for the Dick Trickle Fantasy Team. Next week, I will send out a recap of the Dover race but will not give a Fantasy Update as its All-Star weekend for the cup boys! So another week is in the books, Thank You for your continued support, and please feel free to leave comments in the comments section below!

Booger's Monday NASCAR Fantasy Update: Kansas (spring race) Edition

GoBowling.com 400
KANSAS SPEEDWAY

LIVE: FS1 | TIME: 7:30 EST, 4:30 PST

Talladega Recap:

Was that a race or a demolition derby? The cars looked like the local BOMBER class or the County Fair DEMO Derby at the end of this race. The one bright spot if you remember back to last weeks edition, I did say this about Brad Keselowski, "Now stats don't really matter here, but you have to go with the guy that's going to stay clean and clear of the BIG ONE." BUT, I followed that up with this, "There is not one chance I pick him (Keselowski) to start, but I guess you have to have 2 guys on your roster." So I was dead wrong, who really would of thought this is the day JR will wreck a million times (2 times actually)? As you can tell it wasn't a very good week for the Dick Trickle fantasy team, or Dale Jr, or Chris Buescher, or Matt Kenseth.

Talladega Shiny Star Award: Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
He finished the highest of my 4 starters, he crossed the finish line backwards coming to the checkered flag.

Talladega SURPRISE! Award: Trevor Bayne
After leading a season high 22 laps, Bayne was up at the front all day challenging for the win. He finally put together a complete race to finish 10th.

Talladega Wreck of the day Award: Chris Buescher
"ROLL OUT THE BARREL, WE'LL HAVE A BARREL OF FUN!" 4 Barrel rolls and landing on his wheels, (I haven't seen that many rolls since Tony Stewart went through his midlife crisis) [SEE PICTURE BELOW]

Glad he was ok. (and Buescher too!)

NOW on to my picks this week for the GoBowling.com 400 from the Sunflower State.

Group A-

Matt Kenseth-

Kenseth is still looking to shrug off the slow start and get back to victory lane, as he is the lone JGR car without a win this season. After last weeks flip at Talladega, I am sure he can't wait to get to Kansas where last fall he dominated leading 153 laps and looked like he was punching his ticket to move on to the next round of the chase. We all know what happened as he was spun out by Joey Logano in the battle for the lead. By the way if you didn't watch the interviews after Talladega, you guessed it Joey VS Matt ACT III could begin this Saturday night under the lights.

Could we see ACT III?

It's possible. STAY TUNED

Jimmie Johnson-

As the media likes to call him 'Mile and a Half' Jimmie, JJ leads all current drivers at 1.5 mile tracks. An outstanding 28 wins, 76 Top5s, 115 Top10s and more than 5,000 laps led. He is Mile and a half Jimmie for sure. He's also not to shabby at Kansas, with 3 wins 8 Top5s and 16 Top10s. The guy is a lock to start on any ones team this week.

WhoElse2Watch4- Joey Logano, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick

Group B-

Carl Edwards-

On 1.5 Mile tracks like Kansas, #2 to Jimmie Johnson is this guy. They call him 'Concrete' Carl, 12 wins, 50 Top5s, 78 Top10s and more than 2,200 laps led its safe to say he likes these tracks. Though has no wins at Kansas he does have 6 Top5 finishes there. Look for Carl to get back into victory lane and be the first driver to 3 wins (and 3 back flips) in 2016.

Greg Biffle-

The Biff is 5th on the list of active drivers averages at Kansas. He also has 2 wins, which came back in 2007 and 2010. Biffle has scored 7 Top5s and 9 Top10s. On 1.5 mile speedway's he has 9 wins, 34 Top5s 59 and Top10s. The Roush camp has been running well as of late, look for the Biff to score his first Top10 of the year this weekend.

Kasey Kahne-

Kahne has never won at Kansas Speedway, but is another one of those guys that runs well on 1.5 mile tracks. 8 of his 17 career wins have come at these type of tracks, also another one of those guys that are running well as of late. He was running well at Dega until he got caught up in a wreck with teammate Dale Jr. Look for Kahne to continue his rise of good finishes this weekend.

Tony Stewart-

After 2 races this season, he has an average finish of 13th. Now I know Ty Dillon really helps that stat, but it would have been interesting to see how well Tony would have performed if 100% healthy last week at Dega. The car looked fast with Dillon behind the wheel. Tony runs well at these types of tracks and even has 2 wins to show for at Kansas. If Stewart shows what he did at Richmond, I would feel safe with Stewart on my team. Look for Stewart to run well, cause remember he needs a win and finish in the top 30 in points to make the chase in his final year of competition.

WE2W4- Truex Jr, Ry. Newman, Ky. Larson, P. Menard

Group C-

Chase Elliot-

I'm going to jump back on the Rookie train this weekend, as this group has been my Achilles heal so far this season. This will be Elliot's first ever start at Kansas Speedway (Xfinity doesn't race here.) So far so good this year for the 20 year old from Dawsonville, GA, he recorded an 8th place finish at Atlanta and a 5th at Texas (both 1.5 mile tracks.) I'm giving the slight edge to Elliot this week just for that reason.

Ryan Blaney-

Unlike Elliot, Ryan Blaney has raced here before. May of 2014 and last October where he started 8th and finished one spot better in 7th. On 1.5 tracks this season he has struggled, finishing 29th at Texas and 25th at Atlanta. His only bright spot coming at Las Vegas where he finished 6th. That's basically what is making me lean on Elliot more here. Unless the trend continues whereas Elliot ran well at Atlanta (Blaney didn't), Blaney ran well in Vegas (Elliot didn't) and Elliot ran well in Texas (Blaney didn't). SO that must mean Blaney will run well this weekend (Elliot won't).... we shall find out.

That wraps up another week of Booger's Fantasy picks. So as always, please feel free to leave any comments on what you think I can do to make this a better read. And Thank You all who do read this and who support me, as I enjoy writing about the sport I love. NASCAR!
